Children are playing or engaged in some activity and a conversation ensues between a bigger girl and a pair of a boy and a girl.
1st girl – Jesus died on Good Friday but resurrected on Easter Sunday. Why did He die in the first place?
1st boy – My teacher said he died so that we might live.
1st girl – How is that?
Bigger girl – When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God said the son of the woman would crush the head of the snake while the snake would bite his heel. This was fulfilled when Jesus died because of our sins but conquered death by His resurrection.
1st girl – So by his death he was bitten by the snake and by His resurrection he crushed the head of the snake?
Bigger girl – Yes, that’s one way to look at it. You can also say that, by Jesus’ righteousness, proclamation of the good news and His miraculous works, He crushed the serpent still. Then by His crucifixion the serpent bruised His heels. But this is temporary because He resurrected on the third day to completely and permanently conquer or crush the devil, sin and death.
1st girl – That makes sense.
1st boy – What about taking the place of the lamb the Israelites sacrificed for sins?
Bigger Girl – Yes, that is very much so too. In Leviticus 4:35 and 5:10, God instructed how the priests would offer animals to atone for sins of men. But this was temporary arrangement as it prepared for the coming of Jesus who offered Himself once and for all and completely for the forgiveness of our sins.
1st girl – So we don’t have to sacrifice animals again?
Bigger Girl – No, we don’t. Christ has sacrificed Himself and became the perfect sacrifice for all our sins if we believe in Him.
1st girl – So this is why He died?
1st boy – Yes.
1st girl – I feel bad that He had to suffer and die because of my sins.
Bigger Girl – That is why we have to be sorry for our sins and try not to sin again but to live a righteous life.
1st boy – But the good news is that He rose again, right?
Bigger Girl – Correct! No more to die and gives us the gift of everlasting life when we leave this world.
1st girl – Tell us the story of His resurrection!
Bigger Girl – Alright.
The Bigger Girl begins to sing ushering other children about to come listen to her story.
COME, CHRISTIANS, ALL REJOICE AND SING
Come, Christians, all rejoice and sing
with thankful hearts your praises bring; – BIGGER GIRL
risen is now our Lord and King.
with thankful hearts your praises bring; – BIGGER GIRL
risen is now our Lord and King.
Halleluiah! Halleluiah! Halleluiah! – ALL
On Sunday morn, at break of day
the sad disciples made their way, – BIGGER GIRL
seeking the place where Jesus lay.

Then Marys went, oppressed by care,
with ointments mixed with spices rare, – BIGGER GIRL
His blessed body to prepare.
with ointments mixed with spices rare, – BIGGER GIRL
His blessed body to prepare.

An angel by the tomb they see,
who speaks to them triumphantly: – BIGGER GIRL
“Jesus is now in Galilee.”
who speaks to them triumphantly: – BIGGER GIRL
“Jesus is now in Galilee.”
Halleluiah! Halleluiah! Halleluiah! – ALL
Then John and Peter quickly come;
They search the tomb with hearts aflame – BIGGER GIRL
His resurrection they proclaim.
They search the tomb with hearts aflame – BIGGER GIRL
His resurrection they proclaim.
Halleluiah! Halleluiah! Halleluiah! – ALL
That very night our Saviour dear
to His disciples did appear, – BIGGER GIRL
spoke loving words to calm their fear.
to His disciples did appear, – BIGGER GIRL
spoke loving words to calm their fear.
Halleluiah! Halleluiah! Halleluiah! – ALL
Now let us thank the Lord most high,
and with our praises fill the sky, – ALL
for Christ is risen, no more to die.
and with our praises fill the sky, – ALL
for Christ is risen, no more to die.
