Introductory tune.
Children and adult choirs and a choirmaster.
Choirmaster ushers children into the lower part of the church choir’s gallery.
Meanwhile, above, an adult choir steal into the upper gallery.
Only the choirmaster below with the children is aware of the adult choir upstairs.
Excited to sing, the choirmaster conduct the children on the song I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE.
The children sing verses 1 in unison and 2 in harmony.
The third verse is to be taken by a young boy in bass voice but an adult bass overshadows his.
The boy wonders as he sings and becomes proud of his depth believing the sound was coming from him. But his fellow children choir are amazed and amused. The choir above is also amused while the adult bass is singing over the child.
The children sing the refrain in harmony after this third verse.
The orchestra play an interlude.
And then the children go on to sing the fourth verse. But adult voices sing the melody and descant above them leaving the children wondering at their own voices.
Meanwhile, the choirmaster does his best to suppress his amusement at it all.
The refrain that comes after is unison and arranged in this manner – children sing the first line, adult treble join the children in singing the second line, and then the adult bass join all in singing the third line to the end.
The children sing the fifth verse in unison and gradually come to terms that their voices have returned to normal. Then they sing the chorus also in unison. The chorus is repeated a second time in harmony but with the adults and all bring the song to a grandiose end.
The few congregation around clap for the children and they halfheartedly bow, still confused.
The choirmaster ushers them out.
As they leave the choirmaster secretly gives a thump up to the adult choir above, but a child chorister turns back and sees the choirmaster do this. The child runs back to see who the choirmaster was hailing secretly.
He discovers the adult choir and calls his fellow choristers back to see for themselves and all is amused and clapping: children, adults and the few congregations.
I Am The Bread Of Life by Suzanne Toolan
1.      I am the Bread of life,
He who comes to Me shall not hunger,
He who believes in Me shall not thirst.
No one can come to Me
Unless the Father draw him.
And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up on the last day.
2.      The bread that I will give
Is My flesh for the life of the world,
And he who eats of this bread,
He shall live forever,
He shall live forever.
3.      Unless you eat
Of the flesh of the Son of Man
And drink of His blood,
And drink of His blood,
You shall not have life within you.
4.      I am the Resurrection,
I am the Life,
He who believes in Me
Even if he die,
He shall live forever.
5.      Yes, Lord, we believe
That You are the Christ,
The Son of God
Who has come
Into the world.
