St. Catherine of Siena Institute of Theology for the Lay People graduated its 2017 students at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in September 2018.
The Angelic Choir of St. Dominic’s Church gave beautiful performances at their Christmas Concert held in December 2017.
The Concert was coordinated by Lydia Gbegbaje and Chaired by a lady who was once a member of this Angelic Choir when she was a child.
Parents and invited guests had a lot of fun watching. So did I. Enjoy it too!

Orchestra interlude Let me toil without complaining Never close my eyes to needs, Let me face the summons calmly, – classic rendering with repeat of verse 1 Let me praise a little more [2ce].
I shot Sons of God in 2016.
I did not have much money to invest in shooting it, and so, I approached the Pastor of the Church I attend to allow me use the Church premises and property, and he let me. With his approval, I also approached the coordinators of the children’s choir in my church who let me work with the Angelic Voices Choir and with their parents’ approval.
I could not afford recording the music in a studio because the closest studio I approached charged quite high, and I could not go to farther locations from the Church with the kids because I promised their parents to keep them within the Church environs. So, I thought to record them in the choir galleria, hence, the audio quality.
I also worked with the upcoming orchestra group in the Church, coordinated by a friend of mine, who also directed the kids music. The Church Organist and Sound Engineers in the Church were also helpful to me.
I know it’s not a great production, but I’m glad I was able to shoot it with the other episodes. And I enjoyed working with the kids, but it took a lot of talking and appealing for their concentration. All the same, we all had fun.

EPISODE – SOLDIERS OF CHRIST ARISE – TALENTS
Introductory tune –
Children [3 girls and 3 boys] playing and then –
1st boy – What would you like to be when you grow up?
2nd boy – An artist.
Others who heard the question also answered –
1st girl – A doctor!
2nd girl – A lawyer!
3rd boy – An engineer!
3rd girl – I don’t know yet.
1st boy – That’s okay. God will reveal it to you in good time.
3rd girl – Is it God who tells us what we will be in this world?
1st boy – My mother said God knows what we’ll be even before we are born.
1st girl – That is true. God gives everyone a talent to live with in this world so we don’t live our life empty.
3rd girl – [Scared,] But you all know already what you want to be. How do I know what I want?
2nd boy – what do you like doing most?
3rd girl – I like Arithmetic.
2nd boy – Then perhaps you’ll get to be an Accountant.
3rd girl – Well, that sounds fun.
2nd girl – Cool. But whatever we decide to do, let us remember that God gave us our talents and we should use them for His greater good, our good and the good of everyone.
3rd girl – How do we use our talents for everyone’s good?
1st boy – We do so by being honest at our jobs and working diligently.
2nd boy – Yes. In this way, everyone whom your work affects benefits from your honesty and diligence.
3rd girl – How do we use our talents for God?
2nd girl – It is important that we proclaim God and His gospel in our art and work because He gives us our talents to win souls to Him and to save lives.
3rd girl – And how do we use our talents for our good?
1st girl – Our talents gives us a purpose for living, and this makes us happy if we choose God first to guide our work so that we may bear good fruits in Him.
3rd girl – Oh, and when He calls us back home to Him in Heaven we will have multiplied talents to present to Him as Christ taught us in His parable of the talents in Matthew chapter 25, verses 14-30.
1st girl – Very correct. So you see, we are called to be soldiers of God in this world and He has given everyone a talent or more to live for our good, the good of all and His greater glory.
All – Yeah!!!!!!!!!!
Song performance –
Soldiers of Christ, arise – Charles Wesley (1749)
- Soldiers of Christ, arise
And put your armor on,
Strong in the strength which God supplies
Thro’ His eternal Son;
Strong in the Lord of hosts
And in His mighty power.
Who in the strength of Jesus trusts
Is more than conqueror.
- Stand then in His great might,
With all His strength endued.
And take, to arm you for the fight,
The panoply of God.
From strength to strength go on
And wrestle, fight and pray;
Tread all the powers of darkness down
And win the well-fought day.
- Leave no unguarded place,
No weakness of the soul;
Take ev’ry virtue, ev’ry grace.
And fortify the whole;
That having all things done,
And all your conflicts past,
Ye may overcome thro’ Christ alone
And stand complete at last.
EPISODE – COME HOLY SPIRIT – VIRTUES
A group of four children [sitting] are studying and another group of four enter and approach them [standing].
1st standing – What are you doing?
1st sitting – Learning our Catechism.
1st standing – What lesson are you learning about?
1st sitting – Our teacher gave us an assignment to read about the Virtues.
2nd standing – What are virtues?
2nd sitting – According to the Catechism, a Virtue is a habitual and firm disposition to do good.
3rd sitting – It allows a person not only to perform good acts, but to give the best of himself.
4th sitting – The virtuous person tends toward the good with all his sensory and spiritual powers …
1st sitting – … And he pursues the good and chooses it in his actions.
3rd standing – So what are the virtues we have?
1st sitting – We have four moral virtues and three Theological virtues.
2nd sitting – The moral virtues grow through education, deliberate acts, and perseverance in struggle. And they are: prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance.
3rd sitting – The Theological virtues have God for their origin, their motive, and their object. And they are: faith, hope and charity.
4th Standing – What does each of these virtues mean?
4th sitting – Prudence helps us to recognize, in every circumstance, our true good and to choose the right means for achieving it.
1st sitting – Justice is the firm and constant will to give God and neighbor their due.
2nd sitting – Fortitude ensures steadfastness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good.
3rd sitting – Temperance moderates the attraction of the pleasures of the senses and provides balance in the use of created goods.
4th sitting – By faith, we believe in God and believe all that he has revealed to us and that which the Holy Church proposes for our belief.
1st sitting – By hope we desire, and with steadfast trust await from God, eternal life and the graces to merit it.
2nd sitting – By charity, we love God above all things and our neighbor as ourselves for love of God.
1st standing – Can we practice one Theological virtue without the other?
3rd sitting – No we cannot. According to 1 Corinthians chapter 13, verses 1-4 one act without the other is dead.
4th sitting – Charity is the form of all the virtues, and it “binds everything together in perfect harmony”.
2nd standing – These Virtues are good but I don’t see many people practicing them.
1st sitting – God is the source of all good, and He moves us to be virtuous.
3rd standing – A lot of people are not practicing these virtues, does that mean God does not move them to?
3rd sitting – All I know is, like the prodigal son in the Bible many people have cut off from God their Father to live in accordance with their own ideas and to indulge in the desires of the flesh.
4th sitting – But if like the prodigal son, they become sensible and realize their mistakes, they will return to God their Father and He will embrace them again and enrich them again with these virtues.
4th standing – What is wrong with making up your own idea?
1st sitting – If it does not have God as its source, it will not appear right to those who have the Spirit of God awake in them.
1st standing – What is wrong with satisfying the desires of the flesh?
2nd Sitting – If it does not have the virtue of temperance, then it will not appear right to those who have the Spirit of God awake in them.
3rd sitting – In other words, whatever actions we decide on, we must search in our hearts if they are acceptable to God, the source of all good.
3rd standing – You keep saying the Spirit of God; what about Him?
4th sitting – He is the Holy Spirit Jesus promised that God would send to teach the apostles everything, in John chapter 14, verse 26.
1st sitting – And indeed, God sent the Holy Spirit upon the apostles on Pentecost day and empowered them to come out and witness about Jesus Christ to everyone everywhere.
2nd sitting – Today, the Holy Spirit comes to all who embrace God and teaches them God’s truth, His way and His love.
3rd sitting – And also gives them understanding of what Jesus had taught when He came to live in this world.
2nd standing – This is all so deep. Tell us more.
Song performance –
1st verse – sung by those sitting, and they stand up as they sing. First 2 sitting sing the first four lines. The other 2 sitting sing the 5th and 6th lines while all four sing the 7th and 8th lines in harmony.
Chorus – all [sitting and standing] singing the chorus in harmony.
2nd verse – the 4 who were sitting sing the first 4 lines while the 4 standing all the while sing the last 4 lines.
Chorus – the 8 major cast and a background choir sing the chorus to end.
After the song, one of those standing asks those formally sitting –
1st standing – Wow! So have you learnt everything about the virtues as you were assigned to?
1st sitting – I guess we have learnt much and I think we will do well in class.
1st standing – Then let’s go play a little.
All – Yeah!
And they bounce out.
COME HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit came at Pentecost,
He came to mighty fullness then;
His witness thru believers won the lost,
And multitudes were born again.
The early Christians scattered o’er the world,
They preached the Gospel fearlessly;
Tho’ some were martyred and to lions hurled,
They marched along in victory!
Come, Holy Spirit,
Dark is the hour,
We need your filling,
Your love and your mighty pow’r
Move now among us,
Stir us, we pray.
Come, Holy Spirit,
Revive the church today!
Then in an age when darkness gripped the earth,
“The just shall live by faith” was learned;
The Holy Spirit gave the Church new birth
As reformation fires burned.
In later years the great revivals came,
When saints would seek the Lord and pray;
O, once again we need that holy flame
To meet the challenge of today!
Catechism of the Catholic Church
This was taken in 2018. We couldn’t get her to smile on the day, but you need to see her now, months after, she is the liveliest and sweetest heart ever! And everybody love Amanda!
At a birthday celebrated in July, we caught these families. Our focus is the kids, but we couldn’t avoid the parents they came with too. After all, pretty parents make the beautiful kids.
At a wedding we covered on the 24th of November, 2018, this beautiful girl would not let us be unless we took her picture as we did others. Now, we’re sure glad we did.
Looking at it now, she is very pretty. wishing to see her again.
